Dear Council Building Control Team,

As part of our ongoing support for councils in administering their municipal building control responsibilities, the Office of the State Building Surveyor (OSBS) is offering a further opportunity to attend dedicated risk management training for Municipal Building Surveyors (MBS) and relevant building control staff.

This training will focus on understanding and managing the inherent risks associated with municipal building control functions. It aims to support councils in applying a consistent and robust approach to identifying, assessing, and mitigating key risks, in line with the core objective of protecting the public and building occupants.

To assist with scheduling, we are currently seeking expressions of interest for online training sessions scheduled between 12 and 15 May 2026, with both morning (9:00am–12:00pm) and afternoon (12:00pm–4:00pm) sessions currently available depending on demand and preference.

The training will be delivered online via MS Teams. Please indicate your interest and preference by sending your reply by Friday 1 May,

  • Preferred session times and dates (please provide at least two options where possible, eg 12th AM and 14th PM)
  • Any accessibility or participation requirements
