Fire and Life Safety in Residential Apartment Buildings

Victoria University and Fire Rescue Victoria will again deliver a two-day program focused on fire and life safety in residential apartment buildings, with the next program to be held on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 December 2026.

Following the first program held earlier this year, the December sessions have been further refined and will be open to a broader audience, including strata and owners corporation representatives, council staff and relevant industry groups.

The program will explore key issues surrounding Essential Safety Measures, legislative responsibilities, compliance, risk management and the ongoing maintenance of fire and life safety systems in residential buildings.

For municipal building surveyors and council building staff, the program provides an opportunity to build on existing knowledge of ESM obligations and consider the practical challenges associated with maintaining fire and life safety throughout the life of a building.
