Help bring practical Building Act compliance and enforcement training to councils across Victoria.

VMBSG is looking for councils across Victoria to host future Building Act Compliance & Enforcement Training sessions, helping us make this practical training accessible to council officers across metropolitan, regional and rural areas.

Following our recent Authorised Persons Training Day in Melbourne, hosted by the City of Melbourne, VMBSG is keen to take this valuable training to more locations across Victoria.

The Melbourne session brought together attendees from councils across the state for a full day of practical, hands-on training focused on the compliance and enforcement issues council officers deal with every day.

Delivered by Weir Legal and Consulting together with Ryt Business Solutions, the training combines legal expertise with practical enforcement experience. Topics include delegations and authorisations, Part 8 notices and orders, planning inspections, powers of entry, search warrants, gathering evidence, situational awareness, prosecution decisions and practical evidence-gathering skills.

The training is designed for Municipal Building Surveyors, building inspectors, authorised persons, compliance and enforcement officers, and other council staff involved in building compliance and enforcement functions.

We need councils to host

To continue offering these sessions in different locations, VMBSG is looking for councils willing to host a training day.

Hosting is simple. Your council provides a suitable venue for the day and VMBSG takes care of the catering costs and organisation of the training.

Importantly, the session is not limited to staff from the host council. Attendees are welcomed from councils across the surrounding area, making each training day an opportunity to bring together officers from different municipalities to learn, share experiences and strengthen connections.

We are particularly keen to hear from councils in locations that would make the training more accessible to staff who may not regularly have the opportunity to attend full-day professional development in Melbourne.
