BAB Confirms Safari Structures Are Not Moveable Dwellings

In a Building Appeals Board matter heard on 28 May 2026, Weir Legal & Consulting acted for the Council in relation to safari structures constructed at a registered caravan park in Bright. The Board determined that the structures are not moveable dwellings and are therefore not exempt from the requirement for a building permit.

Technical Insights and Case Studies is the theme for the next VMBSG Women’s Network Professional Development Session, to be held at the Surf Coast Shire Offices in Torquay on Wednesday 27 May.

Open to everyone, this practical in-person session will explore a range of local government building control topics, including building works cost calculations, POPE, complex permits, swimming pool enforcement, report and consents, Building Appeals Board matters and identifying subject buildings.
